This a 6″ Shad crankbait. I was looking for something that would fish like a Monster shad. The Monster shads have been incredible lures that catch many many fish in my area. The problem with designing a bait that is very thin and stable at higher speeds. Extended lips…….. things can get wacked very fast. I abandoned the line tie anchor in the lip and had more success in targeting the depth I wanted to run these baits. The 8 to 14 foot range. I didn’t want to get into adding the weight at the tip of the lip. One other small problem with the Monster shads is the durability of the bait. Some people have called them the one fish baits. I wouldn’t mind that if it was a 50″. LOL There is no doubt that thousands of fish are caught on Monster shads each year. They simply catch fish.
These baits are made of solid resin. I have 3 coats of epoxy over that. You could probably slam it on the floor and it would just bounce. The 1-1/2″ stainless screw eyes are epoxied in to boot. There is a 3/16″ lexan lip . The body thickness is 1/2″. It can hit any speed you throw at it.
I am happy with the results. The shape of the bait made it easy to put realistic shad paint scheme to boot. I am calling this one «Sparkle Shad». When you rotate the bait the scales go from a light green to and Indigo blue. I think this would be a great bait for matching the color of the sky when it is a blue bird day out.

This is a 8″ «Sucker» jerk bait. It is a solid resin bait and has four belly weights. I make all the molds myself……. I do every step from scratch. I like all the different building materials. I go thru phases using them. It keeps it fresh for me. I have some cedar bodies coming soon again.
The action………. On this one it floats. It is more of a twitch bait. It acts more like a fish that is further along in the expired state process. Not that it has «dead» action! LOL I mean when a fish is trying to get under the surface but just can’t. It will hold a left/right pattern. It has a nice downward roll and rise. This bait does a very nice «walk the dog» on the surface.
The painting…… I used alot of gold metalic paint. I think you can see it in some of the pictures. I learn a little more with each one. This is labeled #2. Each specific fish style will be numbered in sequence.
