This is a 5″ solid resin shad. It is going to be called the «Curly Spin Shad». It is a little different lure for me. I needed to try some new stuff to keep my interest. I invested in some new equipment to expand my horizon in the luremaking world. I hope to do more musky fishing this year with the price of gas and always being at the mercy of the weather on the big waters of Lake Erie. I love to cast for the fish. I have some neat ones coming soon that will have this in mind. The lures will be downsized a bit with unique actions. My favorite thing is experimenting with shapes and actions. This bait is small and thin like a natural shad. I wanted a very realistic shape. I added the curly tail on this style bait and moved the rear hook forward. I worked in a spinner bait system that will add some flash but I didn’t want it to be the focus of the fish. The «Spin Shad» and the «Curly Spin Shad» will be in this body style.
The action…….. The bait will do the straight line spinner bait motion but what I really like about the bait is that you twitch it as you are retreiving and it will flip a little zag. On a pause it sinks with the willow blade spinning. You can cover any depth you choose and descend down drop-offs. It can also be buzzed on the surface. It is easy to tune. Just bend the spinner arm to one side or the other to adjust the action. This bait is very easy to cast all day long. I really like the rubber tail action on this bait. I started to make my own rubber components myself. I like messing around with that stuff.
The paint……. I like to paint the natural patterns. I try to use the most realistic colors in the enamels and waterbased paints as I can.
